Web Creative
For the last 3 years I’ve been up to my eyeballs in various varieties of CMS development, AJAX tricks, CSS / XHTML shenanigans, Flash/AS experiments, Photoshopping, battles with IE’s library of broken rules, 2 relocations, and keeping rental properties afloat in a disastrous real estate market. It’s been a ride full of sleepless nights, Red Bull, and a heaping portion of elbow grease. Though I have learned and accomplished more than I thought humanly possibly, my creativity has become a bit, shall we say desaturated. I’ve longed for the downtime to not have to think about an upcoming deadline or a landlord task, and the freedom to pick up my paintbrushes and allow the paint to fall where it may. So with an upcoming three day weekend, I proclaimed to my BFF that it would be THIS weekend that I stole this much needed time for myself to do just that.
Soooo…. now what? I’ve spent the better part of a day digging for inspiration. I have plenty of sketches surrounding me, but nothing that I am ready to commit to a canvas. Back I go digging for more creative influence to focus my pencil and what do I find? Yes, it is a sign! I’ve discovered Drawing Day and the next blessed occasion lands promptly on my birthday, June 6, 2009. I’ve usually only paralleled the time slot with D-Day and the day before the Purple Prince’s own birthday, but now I have an actual goal for this date. I have 335 days to fill my sketchbook with practice and opportunities for artistic growth. And I am happy to report that I’ve already started.

I am a Florida based UX engineer and web creative consultant. With over 12 years of demonstrated performance in commercial web production, I apply my commercial art background to the digital media realm with a deep understanding of the technology behind it, as well as the audience before it.
This is my personal blog where you'll get a peak at what I'm doing at NimbusBlue, a software and design firm where I am the Creative and UX part of the equation.
@ZeroDistortion is a founding partner and principal application architect of NimbusBlue. You can check out what he's busy dishing out on his blog or Twitter.
Her tenacity for quality and her innovative approach to improvement has produced some of the most time-tested and effective methods of team-oriented process that I've seen in nearly ten years of web development. - M. Houston
